For the third project this year, we wanted to think about ways the Free State Project might better engage its existing and future participants. We knew we wanted to develop a physical component to the very serious step of signing the Statement of Intent. It is important that signers, especially those who haven't moved yet, know the movement is authentic.
The Signer's Certificate comes in a sturdy, kraft paper mailer. We purchased custom-made rubber stamps to communicate the care put into creating what is inside. We think the stamp effect looks great on the kraft paper, and we're very excited to see the "Liberty: Made in New Hampshire" graphic turned into a real-life stamp.
Inside the mailer, the signer finds a beautifully letterpressed Statement of Intent with their name, signer number, and mover number (if applicable). The certificate is printed on heavy 600gsm paper in subtle grey by the talented InkPrint Letterpress studio in Manchester, NH. At the center of the certificate is a brilliant and hefty one-ounce copper round.
You're going to be happy when this shows up in your mailbox.
Finally, as with all 13in13 projects, we wanted a small project that has potential for huge impact. While we worked hard to make them look and feel great, we wanted to give the FSP a useful tool to show appreciation to donors.
These certificates are available for $20 in the 13in13 store with all profits going to the Free State Project.
We want to be transparent about how much these cost so that you can know how much of your money will benefit the FSP. The following cost breakdown is for 100 packets.
This means the Free State Project is receiving more than $13 per packet. Since initial setup costs are built into this first run, the total donation per packet will go up in future runs. You can also be sure that we're working hard to pinch every penny without compromising the experience.
